Since this mid-Feb of this year, the Academy Awards have officially been renamed as The Oscars. Oscars has been sort of the term of endearment almost to the Academy Awards and for the longest time it has been referred to as such.
I have watched Zero Dark Thirty and loved the movie and was looking forward to seeing Jessica Chastain's Oscar red carpet look (a super far cry from her slacks/shirt/jeans look in the movie). She did not disappoint....
Okay now, let's talk makeup! On the red carpet this year, many of Hollywood's brightest opted for eye drama and subtle lips. There were a lot of nude lips (Catherine Zeta-Jones & Charlize Theron) pale pink lips (Anne Hathaway & Jennifer Lawrence) and maybe a little blush and I noticed less on the big dark brow trend of last year. Apart from the nudes and soft pink lips, Jessica Chastain's bright bold red puckers also graced the red carpet. Channeling the glamour of old Hollywood with the curled hair and classic silhouette of a gown, this Oscar nominee (Zero Dark Thirty) wowed critics and wowed fashion fans around the globe.
To get Jessica's look here are some suggestions:
- Eyes - MeMeMe Eye Sweep (Felt-tip Eyeliner) & MeMeMe Fat Cat Mascara
- Lips - MeMeMe Satin Lip Cream in Aphrodite
- Highlighting - MeMeMe Shimmer Stack in Gold
Jessica has naturally fair skin and the ruby rich shade of Aphrodite show the shape and curve of her lips beautifully. She kept hey eye makeup minimal to keep the focus on her bright red lips. To make eyes pop like Jessica's, apply the liquid liner thicker on the outer corner of the eye while gradually making it thin up until the inner corner. Skip eyeliner on the bottom. Make your lashes thicker by using a volumizing mascara such as MeMeMe's Fat Cat Mascara. To finish off, a shimmer powder such as MeMeMe's Shimmer Stack in gold can be used as contouring and highlighting powder at the same time. With a big round brush, sweep across the darker colors in the Shimmer Stack and apply just below the cheeks. The lighter shades of the Shimmer Stack can be applied to where sunlight would naturally hit your face. This gives it a sunkissed glow.
I hope you like this look as much as I do!
